Reopening letter from Leni
Our core group of volunteers has been working overtime during the past two weeks while we were closed for annual maintenance. Some of the projects you will be able to see – like the painting of the walls on the pool deck. Most things you wouldn’t – like a new concrete lining in the overflow pit and regrouting of the locker room floors. We ask that you please excuse some of the temporary inconveniences – such as the life jackets being in bins. We are not done yet. Access and storage is still being put together over the next few weeks.
With any change there is always the possibility we moved something or changed something that is important to you. We truly have everyone’s best interest at heart. If you would like something different please leave a note for me at the front desk or in the suggestion box. If at all possible we will try to accommodate what you need. You are always welcome to leave an anonymous suggestion. If you do leave us your contact information, if there is some reason we can’t do it we can talk about it and see what else might work.
Tamarack Pool is getting stronger every day. This new facelift will help to show donors we are moving forward onto solid financial footing – which will help to attract more donors. We have a couple of ongoing projects that help to financially support Tamarack Pool. Take a look at the supporter display board in the lobby. These businesses have purchased a monthly space on the board to continually support Tamarack Pool, or they gave a large donation of materials or labor to the Pool. Please support these companies. Let them know their continued support is appreciated. Tell them Tamarack Pool sent you.
There are some companies we would like to give a special thank you for the sheer volume of work they provided these past two weeks and some wonderful donations. Please consider them the next time you are looking.
Our Heros
Ministry Contracting: Rob showed up one day with 13 volunteers – thirteen of them! Then came back night after night with 4 or 5 people. They primed and painted the entire deck walls all the way up to the beams. It was a huge, huge job. Rex and Kendall hung out until it was done. 541-520-8051
Oregon Auto Repair: Bruce and Jason donated two solid weeks of work
every single day until the wee hours of the morning. They grouted the locker room floors, climbed down into the overflow pit to resurface the concrete, painted the lockers and worked close to 24 hours straight on opening night to get everything back in place. 541-829-1914
Paul Messer Custom Millwork: Paul donated and installed a new
fiberglass family room door and is working on the new wooden beam around the pool deck room. He also climbed up on tall ladders and fixed the cracks that were in the upper walls. 541-914-8897
Boresha Coffee: Ellen showed up day in and day out, running errands,
cleaning and generally keeping things running. She wortked many long hours right up to the final push the night before opening. 541-689-1549
Forrest Paint: Jake donated 15 gallons of free paint for the deck walls, 2
gallons of epoxy paint for the deck floor (which we haven’t gotten to use yet ☺) and a nice discount on the rest of the paint we needed. 541-868-1222
Emerald Pool: Tim donated the epoxy concrete material to reline the
overflow pit. When talking to him I found out his grandfather actually built the pool. 541-520-3900
Dicks Bikes: Dick showed up to support the pool and do drywall repair
even in the face of the huge trajedy of losing his daughter. We send our sincere condolences. 541-686-0529
Ashley’s Upholstery: Ashley provided last minute upholstery for the
changing benches when our volunteer was unable to make it. 541-606-8876
A special thanks to our volunteers who showed up, many of them multiple days in a row, and many with ailments, who pushed through to make it happen. You’re the reason we achieved our goal. Thank you. Thank you. It is because of you that Tamarack Pool remains strong.
Thanks! – Leni volunteers@friendsoftamarack.org
